PD Na Young-seok is spilling the tea on the behind-the-scenes stories of his most iconic variety shows! From admitting his jealousy toward other successful programs to revealing the secret behind Kang Ho-dong’s legendary spring cabbage bibimbap mukbang in ‘2 Days & 1 Night’, he’s bringing all the laughs. He also shared his deep affection for ‘Three Meals a Day’ and even touched upon his plans for retirement.
PD Na Young-seok will appear on the YouTube channel ‘Sool Bijeun Yoon Ju-mo’ today, the 22nd, at 5:30 PM.
As soon as Na PD appeared, Yoon Ju-mo (Chef Yoon Nara) greeted him warmly, saying, “This is my first time meeting you in person, but it feels like we’ve met often.” Na PD responded in kind, “I’m meeting you for the first time too, but it feels the same,” creating a heartwarming atmosphere.
When Yoon Ju-mo asked if he had watched ‘Culinary Class Wars 2’, Na PD honestly replied, “I didn’t click on it of my own will.” He added with a laugh, “When I see a successful variety show, I get so jealous. I start thinking, ‘I should have been the one to do that,’ so I don’t watch them by choice. That’s my pride.”
He also shared a behind-the-scenes story from a famous mukbang scene in ‘2 Days & 1 Night’ featuring Kang Ho-dong. Na PD revealed, “I was one of the few people who ate with Ho-dong hyung back then.” He added, “I remembered it being delicious, so I tried making it again recently, but it didn’t taste the same. When I looked up the video again, it wasn’t spring cabbage (bomdong), but napa cabbage (eolgal-i) bibimbap.” He then recommended, “From next year, please use eolgal-i. Spring cabbage is too stiff and doesn’t match the texture of the rice for bibimbap.”
Among his many hits, Na PD expressed a special love for ‘Three Meals a Day’. He recalled, “‘Three Meals a Day’ is a program where the predictions and results were both great, and it remains a wonderful memory. My creativity was at its peak, I felt I knew what the public liked, and I thought it would be successful from the planning stage. I filmed it without any worries, and the results were great.” He further confessed, “Even looking back now, I only have good memories. If I were to retire, I would want to film ‘Three Meals a Day’ as my final program.”
Additionally, Yoon Ju-mo revealed a special connection, mentioning that actress Jung Yu-mi is his college senior. Na PD also sparked curiosity by revealing, “I used to dislike forming personal friendships with celebrities. During the filming of ‘2 Days & 1 Night’, I never met the members privately.”
