Shocking Claim! Culprit in ‘Brave Detectives 5’ Case Claims Romantic Relationship After Kidnapping and Burial, Leaving Yoon Du-jun and Kwak Sun-young Outraged

A culprit who kidnapped and buried a woman claimed they were in a “romantic relationship,” sparking outrage from Yoon Du-jun and Kwak Sun-young. Tragically, the victim has already passed away, and there was no clear evidence to support the culprit’s claim.

In the 8th episode of E Channel’s ‘Brave Detectives 5’ aired on the 15th, Inspector Kang Seung-wan of the Gangwon Goseong Police Station, former Police Commissioner Yoon Oe-chul, and Officer Kim Jin-soo from the Korean National Police Agency’s Forensic Service (KCSI) appeared to share their investigation logs.

The case introduced by KCSI was a long-term pursuit where the suspect was identified just one day after the missing person report, but it took two months to finally make the arrest.

The investigation began when a father reported his daughter missing after she failed to return home from work on a Friday.

The victim, a 21-year-old jewelry store employee, vanished after leaving work. Police discovered that cash withdrawals were being made from her account immediately after her disappearance.

The person in the CCTV footage wore a hat and mask, withdrawing a total of 4.1 million won over 14 separate transactions. However, during the final withdrawal, the mask slipped slightly, revealing part of the face, which was then recognized by a coworker from the jewelry store.

The suspect was identified as a 28-year-old man. His ID photo matched the nose and mouth seen in the CCTV, and the final withdrawal location was found to be near his hometown.

The investigation team then found evidence that the victim and the suspect went to a motel together on Friday night. Shocking CCTV footage captured the woman appearing to be dragged by force and the suspect carrying someone into a car trunk.

Detectives spotted a suspicious bulge in a cornfield behind the suspect’s hometown house. After launching a stakeout, they successfully arrested the suspect near his sister’s home 57 days after the initial missing person report.

A search of the cornfield immediately following the arrest led to the discovery of the victim’s body buried in the center of the field. The body was found curled up inside a sack, wearing the same clothes she had on when she disappeared.

The culprit claimed he and the victim were in a romantic relationship and that the crime occurred after an argument, but there was no clear evidence to prove this. Yoon Du-jun and Kwak Sun-young expressed their anger, calling the claim “absurd.” The culprit was sentenced to 20 years in prison. The show airs every Friday at 9:50 PM.
