Um Young-soo Shares Secret to Third Marriage on ‘Lovers of Joseon’: “It’s All About Credit!”

Comedian Um Young-soo shared some candid stories regarding his third marriage.

The May 25th episode of TV Chosun’s ‘Lovers of Joseon’ featured comedy legends Kim Hak-rae, Bae Young-man, and Um Young-soo.

During the show, Um Young-soo opened up about his international marriage, explaining, “I had an international marriage. My wife is a US citizen, and since I am Korean, it is an international marriage.”

He noted that six years have passed since his third marriage. He shared a laugh, saying, “It seems reporters are getting impatient. Whenever I meet them these days, they suddenly ask, ‘Haven’t you broken up yet?'” He added, “Since it hasn’t been in the newspapers, we are living well.”

Kim Hak-rae mentioned his unmarried son, Kim Dong-young, expressing his frustration: “When we first talked about it, he said he’d do it until it worked out, but what does ‘until it worked out’ mean? He tried one blind date, it didn’t work, and then he just stopped.” He confessed, “I honestly asked my son if he’s being too picky. I told him he’d regret it if he married too late, so he should hurry, but there doesn’t seem to be any progress yet.”

As an “icon of third marriages,” Um Young-soo joked, “There are people like me who marry easily.” He added, “Whenever I enter the marriage market, I get married right away. I think it’s because of my credit. When I broke up the first and second times, I paid exactly what the court ordered, so I think that’s why I marry so quickly in the marriage market.”

Later, Bae Young-man appeared and spoke about his son, Bae Kang-min, who is active as an actor. He shared, “My eldest son is currently dating, and I came here because I wanted to get some advice.”

Bae Kang-min’s fiancée was also revealed. She is Japanese and works as a pharmacist. Bae Young-man surprised everyone by mentioning that his future daughter-in-law promised to take financial responsibility for 10 years, adding, “I haven’t officially greeted the in-laws yet, but when I looked into their family, it turns out they are a Japanese noble family.”
