Ronnie, a Ugandan national who has become a viral sensation on social media for his Gyeongsang-do dialect content, has revealed his surprising professional career.
In the 530th episode of KBS’s ‘Neighbor Charles’ aired on the 26th, the daily life of Ronnie, who has lived in Korea for 9 years and is in his 5th year of newlywed life with his wife Bella, was revealed.
Ronnie gained popularity through his Gyeongsang-do dialect content on social media. It all started by chance when he posted a conversation he had with his Korean wife, Bella, during a simple walk. His ability to speak the Gyeongsang-do dialect became a hot topic, with views surpassing 1 million, leading him to start creating dialect content in earnest.

His academic background is equally impressive. Ronnie graduated from Makerere University in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. Known for its long history and high educational standards, Makerere University is a prestigious institution often called the “Harvard of Africa.” His reason for coming to Korea was also for his studies. Ronnie shared, “I’ve loved computers since I was young,” and explained, “Since Korea is famous as an IT powerhouse, I came here to pursue my master’s degree.”

The story of his special first meeting with his mother-in-law was also shared. Bella recalled, “I had a lot of luggage, so Ronnie bought me a used car with the allowance he saved while in college. I first told my mother about Ronnie’s existence while talking about the car.” Afterward, Ronnie, Bella, and the mother-in-law even prepared a pig’s head to perform a traditional ‘gosa’ (ritual) for the new car. After that intense first meeting, they spent time together during the wedding preparations and developed a bond like a real family.
Bella’s mother also didn’t hide her affection for Ronnie. She expressed her deep love for her son-in-law, saying, “I’ve become very happy since Ronnie came into our lives,” creating a heartwarming atmosphere.
