The movie ‘Student Teaching’ is raising audience expectations after climbing to the top of the pre-sale rankings for independent and art films.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated computer network, ‘Student Teaching’ ranked first in pre-sales for independent and art films as of 1 PM on the 8th.
‘Student Teaching’ is a high school “horror-lovely” comedy featuring Eun-gyeong (played by Han Sun-hwa), a passionate MZ student teacher who must face a deathly mock exam against a CSAT ghost alongside girls from a black magic club.
Notably, ‘Student Teaching’ secured the top spot overall in independent and art film pre-sales, beating out strong competitors such as ‘Kiki’s Delivery Service’, ‘My Name is’, and ‘Ran 12.3’.
The film has already proven its quality by winning Best Picture and Best Actor at the 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. It has also gained significant attention on SNS, proving the potential of Korea’s next-generation genre films.
This is the latest work from director Kim Min-ha, known as the “darling of Bucheon” for being invited to the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival for five consecutive years. It promises the birth of a new “Girls’ Night Movie,” following the lineage of previous works like ‘Amoeba Girls’ and ‘School Ghost Stories: School Anniversary’.
‘Student Teaching’ will be released exclusively at CGV on the 13th.
