Sometimes the safety of family can become the sharpest thorn. Viewers are set to be heartbroken by the tears of a 10-year-old boy who lives in fear, being pointed out as the culprit every single day in a place where trust has vanished.
In the May 8 episode of Channel A’s ‘My Golden Kids’, the daily life of a third-grade elementary student suffering from extreme anxiety under a mother who struggles to control her anger will be revealed.
The mother appearing in the studio shares the hardships she faces while raising her two sons.

A pre-release clip hints at the cause. During a peaceful evening, the mother begins screaming when a dog almost swallows a rubber ball. The problem is her attitude of concluding that Geum-jjok-i is the culprit before even checking the facts. Even when Geum-jjok-i pleads his innocence, the mother’s suspicious interrogation does not stop.
An even more shocking scene occurs when water is found spilled on the living room floor. Once again, the mother points to Geum-jjok-i as the culprit and pushes him harshly. However, when it is revealed that the older brother actually spilled the water, the mother’s attitude does a complete 180. The fierce anger she poured onto Geum-jjok-i vanishes, and she speaks to the older brother in an incredibly warm and gentle voice.
While the studio briefly breaks into laughter at Geum-jjok-i’s outburst of “It’s always me!”, Dr. Oh Eun-young maintains a stern expression throughout. She sees exactly what kind of fatal emotional scars the stark difference in how the mother treats the two brothers is leaving on the child.
Dr. Oh Eun-young sharply analyzes the mother’s communication style of trapping the child in prejudice and treating him as a potential perpetrator. She is expected to point out that the feeling of isolation and unfairness felt by a child who is constantly doubted by the parents they trusted eventually led to extreme anxiety and the self-harming habit of biting nails.
What advice will Dr. Oh Eun-young give to fix the mother’s ‘heart’ rather than the child’s nails? Whether she can break down the wall of prejudice and resolve Geum-jjok-i’s unfairness can be seen on May 8 at 9 PM on Channel A.
