Ahn Hyo-seop and Chae Won-bin have faced a breakup just as their romance began.
In the 8th episode of the SBS drama “Today’s Sold Out” aired on May 14, Matthew Lee (played by Ahn Hyo-seop) chose to break up for the sake of Dam Ye-jin (played by Chae Won-bin), whose life was ruined by a cosmetic product he had incorrectly developed. Meanwhile, “Today’s Sold Out” has ranked in the top 3 of Netflix’s global non-English TV shows for three consecutive weeks (as of May 13, 2026).
Matthew Lee and Dam Ye-jin entered full-on romance mode, spending sweet days together with constant displays of affection. Thanks to Matthew Lee’s efforts, Dam Ye-jin was finally able to sleep soundly without sleeping pills and began preparing for her return to home shopping, making Matthew Lee very happy.
However, Dam Ye-jin’s condition, which seemed to have recovered, worsened again due to an unexpected event. She discovered that the scar on Na Som-i’s (played by Ahn Se-bin) face was a side effect of the cosmetics she had sold in the past. Overwhelmed by guilt, her sleepwalking symptoms returned, and she tearfully called out Na Som-i’s name in her sleep, adding to the heartbreak.
Matthew Lee’s heart was equally heavy as he watched Dam Ye-jin struggle. It turns out that Matthew Lee was the one who created the cosmetics Dam Ye-jin had sold. Since his mistake left an indelible scar on her life, he fell into deep contemplation over whether he should tell her the truth.
Meanwhile, a breakthrough occurred for Dam Ye-jin’s return as microorganisms exceeding the limit were discovered in the L’Etoile essence she had refused to sell. L’Etoile Executive Director Seo Eric (played by Kim Bum) immediately proved her innocence through a press conference, and Hit Home Shopping offered her a contract renewal.
However, unable to trust herself as a show host, Dam Ye-jin declined both the public’s support and the contract offer, leaving a bitter taste. Hearing this, Matthew Lee decided to return Dam Ye-jin to her original position before it was too late. He revealed his identity to her but pushed her away with a lie, claiming his kindness was merely out of guilt.
Despite this, Dam Ye-jin couldn’t believe him and desperately asked for the reason, but Matthew Lee played the villain, coldly telling her, “I feel suffocated when I’m with you.” With Matthew Lee’s cold expression and Dam Ye-jin’s wounded gaze, fans are left wondering how this sad decision for her sake will affect their relationship.
The next chapter of Ahn Hyo-seop’s healing project for Chae Won-bin, which has now left only scars, can be seen in the 9th episode of the SBS drama “Today’s Sold Out,” airing May 20 at 9 PM.
