Ahn Hyo-seop stars in the SBS drama ‘Sold Out Today’, which tells the story of Matthew Lee, a perfectionist farmer, and Dam Ye-jin (played by Chae Won-bin), a show host known for selling out everything, who get entangled through a cosmetics raw material contract.
The global presence of ‘Lion Boys Jinwoo’ was impressive. Riding the wave of Ahn Hyo-seop’s previous Netflix project ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’, ‘Sold Out Today’ topped the charts in seven American countries during its first week and reached #1 in the Netflix Global Top 10 Non-English TV Shows category.
However, its ability to stay on the charts into its fourth week (May 11 to May 17) isn’t just due to the popularity of his previous work. In fact, episode 9, aired on the 20th, saw ratings rise to 3.1% (Nielsen Korea), an increase of 0.6 percentage points from the previous week, drawing domestic viewers back in.

Some are calling this a career-defining role on par with his representative rom-com ‘Business Proposal’ (2022). ‘Sold Out Today’ also marks his return to the small screen after three years since ‘Dr. Romantic 3’. After establishing himself as a ‘rom-com master’ with consecutive double-digit ratings in TV dramas, Ahn Hyo-seop began exploring new fields.
Last year, he challenged himself with the genre film ‘Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint’ in his first leading movie role and tried voice acting in the animation ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’. While the commercial results varied, these projects expanded his acting depth, which is now evident in ‘Sold Out Today’. As he reinforces his image as ‘Actor Ahn Hyo-seop’ globally, his brand power has grown to the point where the drama includes parodies of his well-known filmography, such as ‘Lion Boys Jinu’ and the ‘Business Proposal’ OST.
With only two episodes remaining until the finale, anticipation is building to see if Ahn Hyo-seop’s sincere effort will lead to a strong finish.
