Broadcaster Ahn Sun-young, who currently splits her time between Korea and Canada, has shared a touching glimpse into her daily life with her mother, who is battling dementia.
On the 21st, Ahn Sun-young posted a video on her personal account with the emotional caption, “I hated her so much, but I’m so glad my mom is here.” The video captures heartwarming moments of the two spending time together, including sharing meals and going for walks.
Ahn Sun-young has spoken about her mother’s condition several times before. She shared, “A close friend of my mother’s for 20 years is a care worker at the facility and gives me daily updates, so I feel like the luckiest person in the world.” She also added a heartfelt message: “Mom, let’s fill the time I spent hating you, the wasted time, and the time we have left with love.”
On the 14th, through her channel ‘Ahn Sun-young’s Double Life’, she revealed the details of her life between Korea and Canada. She explained that she is residing in Toronto, Canada, for her son’s education. However, she noted, “My mother has some cognitive impairment,” adding, “Since I am her only family, I have no intention of leaving Korea, nor can I leave.” She opened up about the reality of playing both the role of a mother and a daughter simultaneously.
Family was also the reason she stepped back from her broadcasting activities. Ahn Sun-young stated, “I think it’s okay to take a break from broadcasting to avoid the worst,” and added, “If broadcasting stations don’t look for me after a three-year sabbatical, then I must have been bad at my job.” She is currently balancing her life in Canada with caring for her mother.
In the past, it was revealed that Ahn Sun-young suffered a loss of 400 million won due to embezzlement by an acquaintance. Despite these hardships, she has continued to care for her son and mother, and she is now communicating with fans by sharing precious moments with her family on her personal account.
