Singer Bae Ki-sung recently opened up about experiencing sudden hearing loss while trying for a natural pregnancy and shared his plans for IVF.
Bae Ki-sung appeared on tvN STORY’s ‘남겨서 뭐하게’ as a close friend of Yoon Jung-soo.
When asked if his ear was okay, he confessed, “I still can’t hear very well. I have sudden hearing loss in my right ear,” noting that his hearing hasn’t fully recovered for two months.
Explaining that he was diagnosed with sudden hearing loss during his attempts at natural pregnancy, he said, “IVF was hard on my wife. So I told her I would put my soul into trying for a natural pregnancy one last time.”
He continued, “I put in the effort for eight consecutive days during the ovulation period and then went winter camping the next day. Suddenly, I started hearing tinnitus, and then the sound just vanished.” He added that the symptoms are still ongoing.
He mentioned, “I was told I need to eat well when I’m sick, so thanks to the nourishing food, I gained 10kg back after losing 18kg.”
He sparked laughter with a joke, saying, “I can’t do natural pregnancy anymore. I only have one ear left.”
Bae Ki-sung also recalled the moment he became certain about marrying his wife, who is 12 years his junior. “I accidentally threw a cigarette butt on the street, and my wife picked it up and put it in her pocket. As we walked, she kept picking up all the trash on the road. When I asked, ‘What is your dream?’ she replied, ‘My dream is world peace.’ She had a completely different worldview from anyone I’d ever known,” he shared.
Regarding the decision to plan for a child after nine years of marriage, he said, “I’ve never once regretted marrying late, but lately, I’ve been thinking, ‘If I had married earlier, I could have had children sooner.’ Living as a couple is so much fun, but one day it suddenly hit me that there’s a 12-year age gap between us.”
He drew attention by revealing, “Eventually, I’ll pass away, and I realized my wife would be left all alone. That’s why I decided to have a child.”
