Singer Bae Ki-sung opened up about developing sudden hearing loss while trying to conceive naturally.
In the May 11 episode of tvN STORY’s ‘남겨서 뭐하게’, Yoon Jung-soo invited his close friend of over 20 years, Bae Ki-sung, for a chat.
Bae Ki-sung made a grand entrance singing ‘내 생에 봄날은’, bringing laughter as he encouraged the cast and customers to sing along.
When Yoon Jung-soo asked about his ear, Bae Ki-sung revealed, “I’m still suffering from sudden hearing loss.”
He explained, “Because of my age, I wanted to have a baby. My wife said IVF would be too hard, so I decided to give it my absolute all for a natural pregnancy.” He continued, “I tried for eight days during the ovulation period and then went camping the next day. It was cold, and suddenly I heard tinnitus, and then the sound just vanished.”
He added, “It’s been two months now, and I still can’t hear.”
When Lee Young-ja asked if he could still communicate, Bae Ki-sung replied that his left ear is working fine.
Bae Ki-sung, who had previously lost 18kg, mentioned that he gained weight again while dealing with the hearing loss. He said, “I lost 18kg, but I needed to nourish my body to recover from being sick, so I quickly gained 10kg back.”
He also praised his wife’s kind nature, recalling, “I was certain about marrying her when I met her. I once threw a cigarette on the street, and she picked it up and put it in her pocket. She even picks up other trash. When I asked about her dream, she said it was world peace.”
