bbno$ Teams Up With Vancouver Film School Students for New

Canadian rapper bbno$ has officially dropped the music video for his latest track, “why am I like this”!

The music video was filmed from February 9 to 12 at the Vancouver Film School (VFS) production center. A total of 25 VFS students and alumni were involved in every step, from production to post-production.

A Vancouver native, bbno$ shot to global stardom in 2019 with “Lalala.” After gaining massive attention via TikTok and social media, he won the Fan Choice award at Canada’s biggest music ceremony, the JUNO Awards, for two consecutive years in 2025 and 2026. He also connected with his Korean fans last November, selling out his first solo concert in Hongdae, Seoul.

The new song “why am I like this” features self-reflective lyrics, while the music video captures various visual expressions within a minimal black-and-white aesthetic.

The production team utilized VFS’s 280-degree green screen studio and film studio. The students and alumni even handled the construction, installation, and dismantling of a massive fly wall just for a single scene!

Among the crew, VFS graduate Hakyoung Lee from Korea played a key role as the 1st Assistant Camera (1st AC). VFS talent also filled various other roles, including key grip, gaffer, art department, stunt coordinator, and compositor.

A VFS official commented, “The students demonstrated industry-level professionalism, even building and dismantling a large set for a single shot.”

VFS explained that this collaboration proves the campus functions as an actual commercial production site beyond just being an educational space, adding, “We will continue to provide students with opportunities to participate in global projects.”
