BIGBANG’s Taeyang Returns with First Full Album in 9 Years: “Happy to Release This on My Birthday!”

BIGBANG's Taeyang Returns with First Full Album in 9 Years:

On the afternoon of the 18th, a listening party for Taeyang’s fourth full album, ‘QUINTESSENCE’, was held at the Cube Convention Center in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. This marks his first full-length album in about nine years since the release of ‘White Night’ in August 2017.

The album title ‘QUINTESSENCE’, which means ‘essence’ or ‘quintessence’, is a word that reflects Taeyang’s long period of contemplation. Through this project, Taeyang aims to solidify his own distinct musical color while expanding into a deeper and wider world.

Reflecting on his recent schedule, Taeyang shared, “I’ve been hectic this year. I was busy preparing for the Coachella stage in the US and simultaneously finishing the album. I didn’t have a single day’s rest.”

He continued, “I’m feeling a lot of different emotions. I prepared this with more joy than ever. Especially since today is my birthday, I’m happy that I can give a great gift to my fans.” He added, “I feel relieved that the album I’ve been preparing for a year is finally out.”

Taeyang emphasized that he began production only after deciding on the title ‘QUINTESSENCE’. He explained, “I thought a lot about the process of finding my musical essence and how to capture that in music.”

From July to December last year, Taeyang held a fan meeting tour across seven cities, including Seoul. Furthermore, on the 12th and 19th (local time), he participated as a headliner at the Coachella festival in the US alongside his BIGBANG members. Having met global fans through both group and solo activities, Taeyang is determined to prove his strength as an all-rounder artist with this comeback.

The new album will be released today at 6 PM on various music streaming sites.
