Gang Dong Won shared the most challenging parts of his “challenge” to become an idol.
On May 18, Gang Dong Won shared his thoughts ahead of the release of the movie ‘Wild Thing’ (directed by Son Jae Gon) during a press conference held at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
During the event, Gang Dong Won explained why he took on the role of ‘Hyun Woo,’ the dance machine and leader of ‘Triangle,’ saying, “The script was so interesting that I took it on as if I were filming an action movie.” He added, “Because the character is a former break dancer, I spent a lot of time learning how to break dance.”
Gang Dong Won also mentioned, “Since he’s a successful idol, it was difficult to showcase that level of skill on stage.” He added, “Actors are usually told not to look at the camera, but for idols, it’s an NG if you don’t. The real challenge was dancing while staring at the camera and knowing to look at the specific camera when the tally light goes on.”
Meanwhile, ‘Wild Thing,’ opening on June 3, is a comedy about ‘Triangle,’ a three-member co-ed dance group that once dominated the music industry but disbanded overnight due to an unexpected incident. The story follows their reckless attempt to seize a chance at a comeback after 20 years.
