A truly golden casting lineup has arrived!
Director Nam Dong-hyeop, who proved his bold directing skills with ‘Handsome Guys’, has confirmed a star-studded lineup for his next project, ‘The Gardeners’, and has officially begun filming.
According to distributor CJ ENM and production company Hive Media Corp on the 7th, ‘The Gardeners’ held a script reading with the main cast on April 29 before energetically cranking in.
‘The Gardeners’ is a comedy about the absolute chaos that ensues when a civil servant, whose only hobby is raising plants, teams up with a local troublemaker to launch a special gardening business.

National actor Song Kang-ho will anchor the film as ‘Choi Young-il’, a diligent civil servant and a miracle plant-parent who can bring even dead plants back to life. Anticipation is already high for the new character created by Song Kang-ho’s signature depth. Joining him is Koo Kyo-hwan, known for his unique aura, who plays ‘Kim Moon-ho’, a troublemaker who causes accidents just by breathing. This marks the first time these two have worked together, and their unpredictable chemistry is expected to be a major highlight of the film.
Song Seung-hun, active across both the big and small screens, is set for a shocking transformation as ‘Han Chung-yong’, a star who hit rock bottom after a certain incident. His bob cut spotted at the script reading was particularly impressive. Lee Kwang-soo adds energy to the story as ‘President Song’, working alongside Young-il, while Shin Hyun-bin joins as ‘Kang Mi-ae’, bringing a subtle sense of tension.

The cast also features talented actors including Kim Byung-chul (as Yeom Byung-chul), Park Ju-hyun (as Jung Hae-ri), Lee Ji-hyun (as Bae Mi-hwa), and Kim Sung-kyun (as Superintendent Park). Veteran actor Woo Hyun and the unique Im Won-hee join as the town head and county governor, respectively, completing a feast of acting. Rising star Lee Jae-in will make a special appearance as Young-il’s daughter, ‘Choi Eun-soo’, showcasing realistic father-daughter chemistry.

Director Nam Dong-hyeop, who established a unique directing style with ‘Handsome Guys’, has teamed up with cinematographer Hong Kyung-pyo, who created overwhelming mise-en-scène in films like ‘Parasite’ and ‘Deliver Us from Evil’. Combined with the production power of Hive Media Corp, known for strong works like ‘Seoul Spring’ and ‘Harbin’, fans can look forward to a well-made comedy that maximizes genre-specific fun.
