BTS’s concert in El Paso, USA, experienced a delay in starting as a huge number of fans flocked to the venue in a short amount of time.
According to the Texas-based media outlet MySA, the first day of the BTS ‘ARIRANG’ World Tour at the Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas, on the 2nd (local time) saw a delay of about 45 minutes due to long waiting lines during the entry process.
With approximately 30,000 fans attending, bottlenecks occurred in the entry paths. Some fans testified, “I had to stand in line for over an hour and entered after waiting about 1 hour and 45 minutes.” Another fan pointed out, “It was close to chaos, and the lines were not properly controlled.”
The Sun Bowl Stadium attributed the delay to technical issues and congestion caused by the massive influx of fans. Specifically, they explained that ticket scanning speeds were delayed on some devices and fans concentrated at certain gates. Traffic congestion and limited parking spaces were also cited as factors that added to the chaos.
The same media outlet previously reported high expectations throughout the city ahead of the BTS El Paso show. In fact, El Paso County designated the concert period as “BTS Weekend,” creating a welcoming atmosphere with an expected economic impact of approximately 75 million dollars (about 100 billion won).
Meanwhile, BTS performed in El Paso for two days as part of this world tour, with the second show scheduled for the 3rd at 8 PM.
