
According to the latest Billboard charts (dated May 16), the title track “SWIM” from BTS’s 5th full-length album ‘ARIRANG’ claimed the #1 spot on the ‘Global (Excl. US)’ chart and #2 on the ‘Global 200’. “SWIM” showed incredible power by bouncing back one spot to reclaim the top position on the ‘Global (Excl. US)’ chart. Additionally, 13 vocal tracks from the album (excluding the sound of the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok) have entered the charts for seven consecutive weeks.
The group also showed strong performance on the main album chart, the ‘Billboard 200’, where ‘ARIRANG’ ranked #7, maintaining its spot in the ‘Top 10’ for seven weeks. Meanwhile, “SWIM” climbed two spots to #30 on the main song chart, the ‘Hot 100’, marking its seventh week on the chart.
The detailed chart results are equally impressive. ‘ARIRANG’ held onto #4 on ‘Top Album Sales’ and ranked #14 on ‘Top Streaming Albums’ and #8 on ‘Vinyl Albums’. “SWIM” solidified its mainstream popularity by appearing across various airplay charts, including ‘Adult Contemporary’ (#16), ‘Pop Airplay’ (#13), ‘Adult Pop Airplay’ (#16), and ‘Radio Songs’ (#30).
On the ‘World Albums’ chart, a whopping five albums charted simultaneously. ‘Proof’, released in 2022, ranked #4 and has remained on the chart for 204 weeks, proving its long-term success. Other entries include the 4th Japanese studio album ‘MAP OF THE SOUL : 7 THE JOURNEY ‘ (#10), the 3rd studio album ‘LOVE YOURSELF 轉 ‘Tear” (#19), ‘화양연화 Young Forever’ (#23), and the 5th mini-album ‘LOVE YOURSELF 承 ‘HER” (#25).
BTS is currently on their ‘BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ IN NORTH AMERICA’, performing 31 shows across 12 cities, starting from Tampa on April 25. The massive economic impact they bring to host cities, known as ‘BTSnomics’, is drawing significant attention. Reuters reported that the total revenue for the world tour is projected to reach approximately $1.8 billion (about 2.7 trillion KRW). The group will continue their tour heat at Stanford Stadium in the US on May 16, 17, and 19.
