K-pop completely dominated the 2026 American Music Awards, sweeping a total of 11 categories with wins for BTS, KATSEYE, and ‘K-pop Demon Hunters’.
The 2026 American Music Awards (AMA 2026) took place on May 25th at 8 PM (local time, May 26th 9 AM KST) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
BTS claimed a massive triple crown, winning the prestigious ‘Artist of the Year’ grand prize, along with ‘Song of the Summer’ and ‘Best Male K-pop Artist’. Having previously become the first Asian act to win ‘Artist of the Year’ in 2021, BTS has now set a historic record by winning the grand prize for the second time in five years.
Additionally, HYBE’s US-Korea joint girl group KATSEYE took home three awards: ‘New Artist of the Year’, ‘Breakthrough Pop Artist’, and ‘Best Music Video’. They also lit up the stage with a performance of ‘PINKY UP’.
The American Music Awards is one of the top three popular music awards in the United States, selecting nominees based on a combination of streaming, sales, and radio airplay.
