NCT’s Taeyong has honestly poured out the instincts and energy he’s built up over the past two years.
Taeyong released his first solo full-length album, ‘WYLD’, on May 18 at 6 PM through various online music sites. This is his first new release since completing his military service, capturing an expanded musical world through a stronger inner self and deeper emotions.
The title track of the same name, ‘WYLD’, is a hip-hop song inspired by the instinctive movements of wild animals. With intense bass, heavy rhythmic instruments, and sophisticated experimental sounds, it creates a multi-dimensional, immersive feeling akin to the wild.
Through ‘WYLD’, Taeyong has wildly infused the artistic identity he has condensed over a long time. From the start, he declares he will break his own mold with the lyrics “Now watch me move baby / Break the frame once more,” and reveals his confidence and ambition to move forward relentlessly toward his goal with “From the jungle to the throne.”
This raw energy explodes through repetitive shouts like “Like animal” and “Wild Yelling Loud just,” leading into the “Dancing in the wild” chorus. Meanwhile, Taeyong sings of his will to reveal himself more freely and wildly, stating, “I won’t stop, I’m Runnin’ until I get there.”
The accompanying music video sensually interprets the latent instincts within humans through Taeyong’s energy, performance, and visuals. By capturing the moments where opposing elements of instinct and control collide and intersect, it completes a powerful and sophisticated visual style reminiscent of a fashion film.
Meanwhile, ‘WYLD’, which Taeyong produced in its entirety, features a total of 10 songs including the title track, as well as ‘Storm’, ‘Hypnotic’, ‘I’m a Dancing Cactus’, ‘Mermaid’, ‘404 Euphoria’, ‘Skiii’, ‘Hot’, ‘Feeling Myself’, and ‘Run’.
