Cha Seung-won Says 'Bonjour Bakery' Was Harder Than 'Three Meals a Day' But More Rewarding!

Cha Seung-won opened up about the challenging process of baking.

During the press conference for Coupang Play’s new variety show ‘Bonjour Bakery’ held on the 6th in Myeongdong, Seoul, Cha Seung-won shared, “It was more difficult than ‘Three Meals a Day’,” adding, “The sense of achievement was the greatest.”

‘Bonjour Bakery’ is a healing baking variety show set in Korea’s first ‘senior dessert cafe’ located in a quiet rural village. It is a place where seniors who understand the flavors of life and bakery staff who know the taste of happiness share sweet comfort and warmth.

With the unique concept of being Korea’s first ‘Yes Senior Zone’ cafe, where only seniors aged 65 and older and their companions can enter, ‘Bonjour Bakery’ is all set to melt viewers’ hearts just like a delicious dessert.

The ‘chef team’ features ‘Cha-tissier’ Cha Seung-won, who is taking on French baking for the first time in his life, and the ‘passionate youngest’ Lee Ki-taek, who is expected to bring energy to the kitchen with his unexpected clumsiness. Together, they promise a feast of sophisticated desserts.

Cha Seung-won hinted, “I believe I should participate if the program’s planning and intention are clear. I think you’ll understand why I joined the program once you see the final episode.”

While he is famous for his great cooking skills, Cha Seung-won recalled the baking process, saying, “I usually cook casually, but baking is a science. The process is crucial. That’s why I wondered if I could actually do it. I had to focus on the presentation and work on each piece individually. I was worried even on the day of production, but everything started to fall into place as I worked.”

Comparing it to his previous shows like ‘Three Meals a Day’ and ‘Spanish Home Stay’, he emphasized that this experience was the best in every way, stating, “Baking itself gave me an enormous sense of happiness. There is a real sense of achievement in overcoming those hurdles. The difficulty level was also very high.”

Coupang Play’s new variety show ‘Bonjour Bakery’ will premiere on the 8th at 4 PM.
