Actress Chae Jung-an recently opened up about the dating days of her close friend, Kim Dong-wook.
On May 25, a video titled “Preview of Dong-yup Shin’s 60th Birthday Party” was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Zzanhan Hyung Shin Dong-yup’, featuring guests Chae Jung-an and Kim Dong-wook.
During the episode, Kim Dong-wook shared the happy news that his daughter, Rowan Grace Kim, was born recently. Shin Dong-yup noted, “Since your child was born in February, doesn’t your expression look much brighter?”
Chae Jung-an recalled a similar experience, saying, “Back when I was filming the drama ‘Man to Man’ with Yeon Jung-hoon, I noticed one day that his expression was so relaxed and happy. He had that ‘baby face’ expression.” She added, “I realized then that seeing something beautiful really shows on your face.”
She then told Kim Dong-wook, “Seeing you after a long time, you really look like a baby now.” Kim Dong-wook nodded in agreement, saying, “I definitely smile a lot more. It’s because I’m constantly looking at my baby, smiling, and speaking softly.”
Chae Jung-an, who became close with Kim Dong-wook while filming the Tving drama ‘The King of Pigs’, revealed, “At some point, he stopped contacting me. I was busy too, but there was a long period of silence. Then, suddenly, he told me he had a girlfriend.”
She continued, “That was when he met his wife, Stella.” She teased Kim Dong-wook, “Did you not know? You didn’t contact me for almost half a year! But I heard from another friend that things were going well with his girlfriend. Since he had been single for so long, I used to worry, ‘What happens if he grows old alone in that big house?’ He’d just drink beer and watch ‘The King of Pigs’ while eating delivery food. So I was truly happy when I heard he met someone. I wasn’t even upset about the lack of contact; I just thought, ‘He finally did it!'” She added with sisterly affection, “His house is so big with so many rooms, but he used to eat and sleep on the outdoor porch. He couldn’t have looked more pitiful.”
Kim Dong-wook also brought up Chae Jung-an’s love life, asking, “I’m not sure if you’ve ever had a boyfriend. I don’t know if you’re just very private, if you really didn’t have one, or if you just weren’t interested, but have you ever had one?”
When Chae Jung-an replied, “I told you everything,” Kim Dong-wook clarified, “You never specifically said ‘boyfriend,’ you just said ‘there’s someone I’m contacting lately,’ and they were almost all much younger men. Very young.”
Chae Jung-an recalled a shocking moment when Kim Dong-wook joined a gathering with her close friends. “He seriously asked me, ‘I think it’s serious. You like men, right?’ Thinking he’d help me find someone if I said yes, I replied, ‘Of course, I like men!'”
Kim Dong-wook explained, “Since she’s always hanging out with women, I wondered when on earth she’d meet a man. I wasn’t genuinely worried, but I couldn’t just recklessly introduce anyone to her.”
