Movie poster designer Park Si-young has shared their honest thoughts on the “coming out” buzz while expressing unwavering love for a partner they’ve been dating for 15 years.
In a video titled “Can I tell you everything on the first meeting? Opposite two people Won So-yoon & Designer Park Si-young | First meeting” uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Watcha’ on the 9th, Park Si-young had a candid conversation with stand-up comedian Won So-yoon.
When Won So-yoon asked, “I heard you love to brag. What’s the thing you want to brag about most lately?” Park Si-young opened up, saying, “I’m not sure if I should talk about this, but to be honest, I bragged about my partner on Instagram a little while ago.”
Explaining the background of the coming out post that recently became a hot topic, Park Si-young said, “My dog passed away recently, so I look at photos of my dog when I wake up. While doing that, photos of me and my partner naturally pop up. Looking at them, my partner was just so beautiful. It was driving me crazy. You know those moments when your heart just swells?” They added, “I was so overwhelmed by how pretty they are that I bragged about everything regarding my feelings and having such a partner. But then it ended up in the news.”
Park also expressed bewilderment that a simple expression of affection was turned into a news story with the grand title of “coming out.” They shared, “It’s just flustering to hear the word ‘coming out’ when I’m forty years old. After thinking about the attention it received, I wanted to avoid this question,” but then admitted, “No matter how much I think about it, the only thing I can brag about right now is my partner. If you ask me deep down what I want to brag about, I want to carry my partner on my back and show them to everyone. I want to walk right through the middle of Myeong-dong and brag, ‘This is mine!'”
When Won So-yoon asked what specific part of their partner they wanted to brag about, Park Si-young replied, “I love the effort my partner makes to act maturely. I’m the type who acts cute, whines, and clings to them, being a bit of a nuisance,” showing deep attachment and trust.
Previously, last month, Park Si-young posted on social media, “My heart has been boiling for 15 years. I feel like I’m going crazy because I love them so much,” sharing deep feelings and realistic worries. The post was interpreted as a coming out and became a huge topic online. Park later deleted the post and stated they “got a bit ahead of themselves.”
Park Si-young is a renowned designer responsible for the posters of major domestic films such as ‘The King and the Clown’, ‘The Face Reader’, ‘The Wailing’, and ‘Veteran 2’.
