Singer DinDin has opened up about the corporal punishment and discrimination he endured during his school years.
In a recent video titled “Vancouver Project Binge-watch” uploaded to his YouTube channel, “DinDin is DinDin,” the star reflected on his past.
Recalling his first year of high school, DinDin shared, “My teacher wrote my name on the chalkboard. I laughed because the name looked so funny.”
He remembered the teacher’s chilling response: “The teacher looked at me and said that every year, five students who are ‘unnecessary’ to the school are made to drop out. He looked at me and said that would happen again this time.”
DinDin also revealed that on the first day, there was a bag check. “Other students were passed over, and only five of us had our bags checked. It was already such blatant discrimination,” he confessed.

The hardships continued. “The next day, there was a hair check at the main gate. Because I was late to class, I was forced to hold a push-up position. Whenever my hips dropped, I was hit,” he recalled.
He added, “The class president arrived after me and said he failed the hair check, but he was just allowed to go inside. When I asked why he was allowed in, I was hit again.”
DinDin stated that he suffered through this unfair treatment multiple times. “One day, I just snapped,” he said. “I started crying while taking off my school uniform and called my homeroom teacher to ask why he hit me.”
He explained that his mother eventually stepped in to stop the call. “After that, my parents told me not to go back to school. I felt that if I kept living like that, my life would be ruined,” he shared, explaining why he decided to study abroad.
DinDin’s honest confession about the abuse he suffered has garnered support and empathy from netizens. Fans reacted with comments such as, “This is a real-life version of The Glory,” “The teacher must be so ashamed,” and “There were so many devil-like teachers back in the day.”
