‘Doctor Shin’ Ends with a Shocking Brain Transplant… Did Jung Yi-chan Reincarnate as a Dog?

TV Chosun’s weekend drama ‘Doctor Shin’ (Writer Phoebe (Im Sung-han), Director Lee Seung-hoon) has left viewers completely bewildered with an absurd finale featuring the protagonist’s death and a brain transplant into a dog.

In the final episode (Episode 16) aired on the 3rd, Shin Ju-shin (played by Jung Yi-chan), the surgeon behind the brain change operation, met a tragic end. Driven by rage over the death of his daughter, Kim Jin-joo (played by Chun Young-min), due to surgical side effects, her biological father Kim Kwang-chul (played by Cha Kwang-soo) broke into Shin Ju-shin’s home and attacked him. After a struggle, Shin Ju-shin suffered fatal injuries. Kim Kwang-chul also passed away after being discovered by nurses at the scene, and Shin Ju-shin’s body was found the following day by another nurse.

Meanwhile, the romance between Momo (Geum Ba-ra’s brain, played by Baek Seo-ra) and Ha Yong-jung (played by Ahn Woo-yeon) reached a happy ending. Momo initially tried to divorce Ha Yong-jung while hiding her true identity as Geum Ba-ra, but she changed her mind after considering their son Ha Geum-bi’s upbringing and being persuaded by James (played by Jeon No-min). On the day they were set to file for divorce, Momo revealed her identity at a cold noodle restaurant, sharing a memory only Geum Ba-ra could know: “I wanted these cold noodles so badly when I was pregnant with Geum-bi.” Fast forward in time, Ha Yong-jung and Momo remained a family and even welcomed a second daughter.

However, the biggest shock came in the final scene. In the yard of Ha Yong-jung’s happy home, there was a large dog that Geum Ba-ra had always wanted, and it was implied that the brain of the deceased Shin Ju-shin was inside the dog’s body. The drama concluded with Momo telling the dog, “I love you.” Viewers reacted explosively, commenting, “A brain transplant into a dog’s body is so Im Sung-han,” and “This is a legendary ending I couldn’t even imagine in my dreams.”
