A couple struggling to find common ground is sharing a truly heartbreaking story.
In the 167th episode of MBC’s ‘Oh Eun-young Report – Marriage Hell’ airing Monday the 11th, we’ll see the “Out-of-sync Couple” clashing over their very different views on parenting.
The couple opens up about a shocking accident their first daughter experienced around 100 days after birth. The husband recalls the moment, saying, “The baby was leaning against the sofa and suddenly flipped over and fell.” While there were no immediate symptoms, she suddenly lost consciousness a week later and was rushed to the emergency room. Consequently, she was diagnosed with a disability including right hemiplegia and has been continuing rehabilitation therapy up until now at age 8.
Attention is drawn to the husband’s somewhat coercive way of disciplining their disabled daughter. He shows a strict side, firmly telling the child to “Lift your head” when she keeps dropping it during meals. Regarding this, the husband shares his parenting philosophy, stating, “I might be seen as a harsh father, but I want to make sure my first child walks, even if I have to be tough.”
On the other hand, the wife expresses her sadness over her husband’s rough tone and behavior, wishing he would “speak more kindly to the children.” She specifically complains that the husband often uses swear words in front of the kids as if it’s a daily habit. However, the husband responds by saying, “I’m from Gyeongsang-do, so my way of speaking is naturally strong.”
Meanwhile, a dangerous parenting method is captured that leaves Dr. Oh Eun-young in shock. During a perilous moment in the observation video, Dr. Oh Eun-young warns the couple, saying, “The first child already went through such a painful event, and yet this happens again!” She adds, “It was pure luck that day. This is something that must absolutely never happen again from today onward.”
