ZEROBASEONE (Sung Hanbin, Kim Jiwoong, Seok Matthew, Kim Taerae, and Park Gunwook) released their sixth mini album, ‘Ascend-‘, through various online music sites on the 18th.
‘Ascend-‘ is an album that focuses on the core essence of ZEROBASEONE, condensing their musical journey into a single narrative to showcase a more distinct identity. Rather than flashy transformations or provocative attempts, the work highlights the team’s unique sensibility, vocal tones, and growth story, clearly presenting the current state of ZEROBASEONE.

This mood is perfectly captured in the music video. Moving away from their signature fresh boyishness and colorful energy, the video opts for a minimal black-and-white aesthetic and a more restrained performance. The choreography, which emphasizes sharp lines and angles, is also a major highlight.
During a previous comeback interview, ZEROBASEONE shared, “While we previously showcased the image of youth, this time we want to show a more stable, calm, and mature side.”
Formed through Mnet’s ‘Boys Planet’ in 2023, ZEROBASEONE established themselves as a representative group of the 5th generation. However, following the end of their two-and-a-half-year contract, four members (Zhang Hao, Ricky, Kim Gyuvin, and Han Yujin) returned to their original agencies, while the remaining five members decided to continue their activities as a team.
