Former 'Chungju-man' Kim Sun-tae Donates 100 Million Won to Improve Regional Emergency Care!

Former ‘Chungju-man’ Kim Sun-tae has donated 100 million won to the Chungju Medical Center.

On the 22nd, a video titled “Donation Promotion” was uploaded to Kim Sun-tae’s YouTube channel.

In the video, Kim Sun-tae honestly shared, “I’m planning to donate. Until now, I’ve mostly done donations together with companies, but since this is coming directly out of my own bank account, I feel a bit of a sting.”

He continued, “It’s true. Some might see it as a small amount, but for me, it’s a very large sum. Donating a large amount of money isn’t easy.”

He added, “I left after 10 years of working, but I’ve never spent a large amount of the money I earned. The biggest things I’ve done were donating 2,000 Americanos and a joint donation with Simmons.”

He also expressed, “While deciding on this donation, I realized that I’m not actually a ‘good person.’ If I were, I wouldn’t feel this reluctant. Because of that, I’ve come to deeply respect those who donate often. Donating is not an easy task.”

Regarding why he chose the Chungju Medical Center, Kim Sun-tae stated, “I know it might look cooler to donate to Samsung Medical Center or Asan Medical Center in Seoul. However, living in Chungju, I’m well aware that the emergency medical services here are a mess, so I felt it wouldn’t be right to ignore that and donate to a hospital in Seoul.”

He continued, “Regional emergency medical care is in a very difficult state. Especially for cardiovascular diseases or severe trauma, the survival rates are low. I hope that at least emergency medical services can be improved.” He added, “Honestly, I don’t think this donation alone will change emergency medical care, but I hope many people will start paying more attention to regional emergency services.”

Meanwhile, Kim Sun-tae started as a grade 9 civil servant in 2016 and became famous as ‘Chungju-man’ while managing the official Chungju City YouTube channel. After a special promotion, he reached grade 6 by the end of 2023 and resigned last February. He currently runs his own YouTube channel with 1.67 million subscribers.
