Former comedian turned dentist Kim Young-sam has set the record straight regarding his recent comments about being dissatisfied with the size of Korean Air seats.

On the 5th, Kim Young-sam shared several photos on his account with the caption, “Even for first class, it’s way too spacious. I could play soccer here. I should bring a soccer ball next time.” The photos captured the space and size of the first-class seat he used on his return flight from various angles.
He followed up with a clarification, saying, “I joked that first class was narrow, but how unfunny must a comedian be for people to take it seriously?” He added, “In the end, it’s the fault of the unfunny comedian,” explaining that his previous post, which sparked controversy, was meant as a joke.

Previously, on the 21st of last month, Kim Young-sam caused a misunderstanding when he posted a photo of a Korean Air first-class seat on his personal account, questioning, “How can I go all the way to the US in such a cramped place?” He had further added, “Even the study rooms in high school were wider than this,” making it seem like he was uncomfortable despite being in first class.

Kim Young-sam debuted as a KBS 16th open recruitment comedian, building his career across various broadcasts and stages. After about three years as a comedian, he returned to his college major in dentistry to start a second career as a dentist. This unique transition from entertainer to medical professional drew significant public interest. He is currently establishing himself in the field of wisdom tooth extraction, leading the training of junior dentists, and staying active through his personal channels and TV appearances.
Notably, he appeared on tvN’s ‘You Quiz on the Block’ in 2020, where he brought laughter by sharing the perks of being a dentist with a comedy background. Mentioning that taking the comedian exam was his first “deviation,” he joked, “It’s comfortable because I’m the only one talking while the patients have their mouths open,” and “I failed as a comedian, but I’m quite funny among dentists.”
