Actor Cha Seung-won has once again proven his worth as ‘Chef Cha’ by creating high-quality desserts.
In the first episode of the Coupang Play variety show ‘Bonjour Bakery’ released on the 8th, the crew headed to Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, to open Korea’s first senior dessert cafe. Cha Seung-won took center stage in the kitchen, tackling French dessert baking with his signature meticulousness and determination.
His sincerity shone through even during the practice sessions before the official journey began. While honestly admitting the pressure of working in an unfamiliar space with new recipes, he honed his baking skills through repeated practice, showing his strong resolve for the program.

Preparing for the opening, Cha Seung-won visited the bakery a day early to check the overall kitchen layout and carefully plan the workflow, demonstrating the leadership of a main chef. On the first official day of business, he arrived early and immersed himself in baking with precision that didn’t allow for even a 1g error. He especially impressed everyone by successfully completing the ‘Bonjour Green Barley Field Tart,’ which required a particularly demanding process.
His cheerful communication skills also caught the eye. While focusing seriously on his cooking, he would occasionally crack jokes with the camera and worked in perfect harmony with the youngest assistant chef, Lee Ki-taek, providing a steady foundation for the team. He also added energy to the set with his witty conversations with Kim Hee-ae and showed his kindness by looking after Kim Seon-ho, who was busy with performance schedules.
Immediately after the broadcast, online reactions were explosive, with fans commenting, “Cha Seung-won is amazing. He’s great at baking too,” “Cha Seung-won is making art with bread,” and “I want to eat bread after watching this.” With his precise baking skills, friendliness, and variety sense, fans are eager to see what kind of desserts and relaxation he will provide next.
Meanwhile, the healing baking variety show ‘Bonjour Bakery,’ which shares sweet comfort and warmth, is released every Friday at 4 PM on Coupang Play.
