Singer-songwriter Ahn Shin-ae has successfully wrapped up her first-ever solo concert since her debut, leaving fans with a deep musical afterglow.
Ahn Shin-ae concluded all schedules for her small theater concert ‘SCENE A’ on May 17th at Yeonnam Space in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The series of performances took place every weekend for about a month starting from April 25th, totaling eight shows.
As this was Ahn Shin-ae’s first solo performance, it held special meaning. Instead of flashy stage effects, the show focused on the music itself, using only a guitar, piano, and her voice to create an intimate connection with the audience.
The repertoire was extensive, featuring tracks from her recent remake album ‘Best Before’, her own original songs, tracks she wrote for other artists, personal favorites, and even unreleased songs. She kept things fresh by varying the setlist for every single performance.
Ahn Shin-ae opened the show with her solo debut song ‘Respect’, showcasing her unique musical world. She then captivated the crowd by performing every track from her remake album, including ‘Why Like That’, ‘People All Change’, ‘Love Only for Myself’, and ‘Farewell Trip’.
Adding a twist to the atmosphere, she appeared as her alter ego ‘Matilda’, styled with sunglasses and white fur, bringing a completely different stage presence. She also drew attention by reinterpreting Hwasa’s ‘I Love My Body’, a song she personally helped write and compose, in her own emotional style.
Her versatility shone through a wide range of song choices, including ‘Summer time’, ‘Spring Days Go By’, ‘Hit the Road Jack’, and ‘Tears of Mokpo’. By effortlessly moving between jazz and pop, she proved her impressive musical spectrum.
A highlight of the show was the request corner, where she interacted directly with the fans. She performed Lee Ye-rin’s ‘Always Like Now’, her own ‘Kimchi and Smile’, and Lee Sang-eun’s ‘Someday’ on the spot, completing the cozy vibe of the small theater.
The guest lineup was equally dazzling. Jukjae, Gurum, Noh Young-shim, Kang Seung-won, and K.Will all took the stage. The May 16th show featured Sunwoojunga, Sung Si-kyung, Jung Dong-hwan, and Gyro, while the final performance was completed with special appearances by Stella Jang and Kim Jin-ho. These guests shared memories of their friendship with Ahn Shin-ae and added to the emotion of the night with collaborative stages.
At the end of the concert, Ahn Shin-ae shared her heartfelt thoughts, saying, “It was a time of happiness that I cannot fully explain in words,” and “The fact that we can be this close through music feels like a great blessing.”
Having demonstrated the raw power of music through her remake album ‘Best Before’ and her first solo concert ‘SCENE A’, fans are now eagerly anticipating what kind of stages and music Ahn Shin-ae will bring next.
