On ‘Help Me! Holmes’, spaces that reflect personal tastes and lifestyles away from apartments will be revealed. The cast members, each with their own housing philosophy, add to the excitement.
In the episode airing on the 21st, the team visits homes of people who have successfully “escaped apartments.” They will explore the houses of those who left the “Apartment Republic” of Korea based on their own firm beliefs.
Joining the tour are “House Fan” Kim Dae-ho, “Apartment Fan” Jonathan, and “Neutral Party” trot singer Park Ji-hyun. Together, they will look into the lives and tastes of those who chose alternative housing, highlighting various residential cultures outside of apartments.
The trio visits a special semi-basement home in Yongsan-gu. The homeowner, who previously lived in a jeonse apartment in Oksu-dong, Seongdong-gu, caught everyone’s attention by revealing that they chose to build their own building after their lease ended.
Everyone was shocked to find that the owner lives in the semi-basement instead of the top floor, which is where building owners usually reside. However, thanks to the sloped location, the space boasts plenty of natural light and an open feel.

The interior is a duplex that perfectly reflects the owner’s taste. The layout combines practicality with style, and the unique interior design throughout is truly impressive.
A unique bathroom space that captures Kim Dae-ho’s heart will also be featured. Plus, Jonathan couldn’t hide his joy upon meeting the homeowner, and their special connection will be revealed.
An old villa in Jongno-gu, where you can enjoy Inwangsan and Suseong-dong Valley like your own backyard, will also be introduced. Located in a neighborhood known as the site of poet Yun Dong-ju’s boarding house and the birthplace of “drama master” writer Kim Eun-hee, this home stands out for its peaceful atmosphere.
A couple who decorated an old row house with their own cozy vibe shared their philosophy, saying, “We chose a place where we can feel the preciousness of the moment rather than its monetary value.” Yang Se-hyung deeply empathized, and Kim Sook added, “That kind of satisfaction cannot be compared to anything else.”
The “Escape Apartment” episode of MBC’s ‘Help Me! Holmes’ airs on the 21st at 10 PM. It promises to be a time to glimpse various values regarding “how to live” beyond just looking at houses.
