Gangwon Film Commission Brings the Big Screen to You with 'Visiting Cinema' Project!

The ‘Visiting Cinema’ project is all about bringing the magic of movies directly to social welfare facilities, village halls, and culturally underserved areas across 18 cities and counties in the province, allowing residents to watch the films they hope to see. The Gangwon Film Commission operated the program until 2019, but it was suspended following the spread of COVID-19. It is returning this year to expand opportunities for residents to enjoy visual culture.

The project will handle announcements and applications in two-month intervals, and selected groups will receive free support for screenings of their requested movies. The first phase of the project will operate during May and June, with applications open until the 15th.

Shin Hyun-sang, CEO of the Gangwon Cultural Foundation, stated, “We will work hard to expand visual culture welfare by visiting various locations throughout the province for residents who find it difficult to visit a movie theater in their daily lives.”
