Gong Seung-yeon Opens Up About Severe Financial Struggles:

Actor Gong Seung-yeon opened up about experiencing severe financial hardship after a period of not having any projects following her debut.

Gong Seung-yeon, who is currently enjoying her peak 15 years after her debut, appeared on the tvN show ‘You Quiz on the Block’ aired on the 20th.

During the episode, the actress shared her journey of reaching this milestone 15 years into her career.

While she started strong with dramas like ‘Heard It Through the Grapevine’ and ‘Six Flying Dragons’, as well as the variety show ‘We Got Married’, Gong Seung-yeon noted that her projects gradually decreased. She honestly confessed, “I couldn’t film anything for a while. It must be because my acting wasn’t good enough. If I had been better, I would have continued to get roles, but I think I wasn’t very good back then.”

As projects dried up and she failed auditions, her bank account eventually ran dry. She revealed, “I didn’t have money for rent, health insurance, or pension insurance. In the end, due to the financial hardship, I cleared out my place and moved back into my parents’ house to sharpen my skills.”

Gong Seung-yeon, who auditioned for many roles and studied characters during that time, caught attention by confessing, “In the movie ‘People Who Live Alone’, there was a smoking scene, so I even tried every kind of cigarette.”
