Han Sun-hwa sat down for an interview on the 6th at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, to talk about her role in the movie ‘Student Teaching’.
“We filmed this last June, and it’s releasing sooner than expected,” Han Sun-hwa shared. “I’m so happy to meet the audience quickly. Since it’s releasing in the same month as Teacher’s Day, it feels even more meaningful and gives me a sense of mission.” She added that the director shared a lot about the motivation behind the film, making the timing of the release even more special.
Recalling her first time reading the script, she described it as “bold” and “a format I’ve never seen before.” She explained, “When I first saw the script for ‘Work Later, Drink Now’, I was shocked by Ji-yeon’s lines, wondering if they could actually be spoken. But ‘Student Teaching’ surprised me even more.”
Curious about how to deliver the lines and the overall tone of the piece, she made sure to meet the director. “We had a meeting for about two hours where I asked everything I was curious about. The director has a very precise and strong individualistic style of directing, so I didn’t feel anxious,” she said.
She also mentioned watching the director’s previous work, ‘Amoeba Girls and School Ghost Stories: School Anniversary’, a month or two before their meeting. “It was very unique. I had never seen this genre before, and I found it really fresh,” she noted.
Releasing on the 13th, ‘Student Teaching’ is a high school horror-lovely comedy about passionate MZ student teacher Eun-gyeong and a group of girls from a black magic club who must face a “death mock exam” against a CSAT ghost. Han Sun-hwa takes on the role of the MZ student teacher, Eun-gyeong.
