Thanks to actor Heo Nam-jun’s overwhelming performance in a bold, straightforward romance, ‘Wonderful New World’ is breaking its own viewership records every single episode!
In the 5th episode of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama ‘Wonderful New World’ aired on May 22, we saw Cha Segye (Heo Nam-jun) struggling hard to win over the heart of Shin Seori (Lim Ji-yeon).
Even after being rejected and told he isn’t seen as a man, Cha Segye’s “straight-ahead” instincts didn’t stop. Despite corporate crises hitting his company, he dressed to the nines and visited the drama set where Seori was filming. He poured his heart into everything from a coffee truck to flower bouquets. However, his advances were shut down instantly, providing viewers with some “funny yet sad” moments.
Then, in episode 6, the signal for a full-blown mutual romance finally fired! While visiting an ad shoot in Jeju Island, Segye picked a fight by claiming Seori’s dress was too much. Soon after, using the excuse that the product wasn’t visible, he dropped a total bombshell: “I can’t see anything but that woman right now!” leaving viewers in stitches. He also showed his sweet side by searching for Seori when she got lost and quietly following her while she was drunk.
The highlight was the ending scene on the beach. After realizing his feelings for Seori once again, Segye approached her, saying, “If you’re going to run away, now is the time. I’ll give you exactly three seconds.” When Seori stopped him from leaving, Segye kissed the inside of her wrist, leading to a romantic kiss.
Heo Nam-jun has increased the show’s immersion by portraying the process of a notorious character changing in the face of the unfamiliar emotion of love. He is receiving praise for his perfect pacing and delicate expressions, seamlessly switching between comedy and melodrama to make the story more three-dimensional.
