Director Hirokazu Kore-eda, the mastermind behind the film “Sheep in the Box,” is heading to Korea with rookie actor Rimu Kuwaki! He is returning to meet Korean fans with his latest work, which recently made waves after being invited to the competition section of the Cannes Film Festival.

Joining the visit are Director Hirokazu Kore-eda, who handled the direction, screenplay, and editing, and child actor Rimu Kuwaki, who plays the humanoid boy Kakeru. The duo will be in Seoul on June 4 and 5 to interact directly with the local audience.
On June 4, the schedule includes a press screening and an official press conference, followed by stage greetings and a GV (Guest Visit) session. On June 5, they will participate in round interviews with major domestic media outlets before attending more stage greetings and GV sessions.
Director Hirokazu Kore-eda is a renowned Japanese master director who has maintained a strong bond with Korea. He has built a massive fanbase here through films like “Shoplifters” and “Monster.” In 2022, he directed his first Korean film, “Broker,” starring Song Kang-ho, Gang Dong-won, IU, and Bae Doona, which also entered the competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
Last year, he even visited Korea to personally thank fans after “Monster” surpassed 500,000 viewers. This upcoming visit celebrates the domestic release of “Sheep in the Box,” a project that holds special meaning as his 10th film to enter the Cannes competition.
“Sheep in the Box” is being praised for capturing the essence of humanity and family through Director Kore-eda’s signature lens. Fans are excited to see how he explores themes of family, loss, and existence within a sci-fi setting featuring a humanoid.
