HYBE, the agency behind girl group ILLIT, has lost its legal battle against a “cyber wrecker” YouTuber.
According to Newsis on the 8th, Judge Kim Kwan-jung of the Seoul Western District Court dismissed the claim for damages filed by HYBE and others against Fastview. The court also ordered HYBE and the other plaintiffs to cover the full cost of the litigation.
Back in 2024, HYBE filed lawsuits totaling 280 million won against seven YouTube channels, alleging that these “cyber wreckers” consistently spread false information about their girl groups.
The members of ILLIT and their label, BELIFT LAB, were also part of the damages claim.
The YouTube channels operated by Fastview, known as “People Box” and “Da Issue,” had posted allegations that ILLIT plagiarized certain artists, claimed a member mentioned specific food to slander another artist, and alleged that HYBE and artists like LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT were linked to a cult.
