Tiffany Young, a member of Girls’ Generation and an actress, recently opened up about the new unit “Hyori-su.”
On the morning of May 13, Tiffany Young appeared as a guest for the “Morning Guest” segment on MBC FM4U’s “Today Morning with Yoon Sang.”
During the broadcast, Tiffany recalled her journey, saying, “I debuted in 2007 and promoted as part of the unit TaeTiSeo in 2012, my fifth year. Then, in 2016, during my ninth year, I released my solo album. Back then, solo albums were very rare and precious items.”
She explained, “It wasn’t a system where you could just say ‘I want to go solo’ and do it. I spent several years saying, ‘I want to do this.’ I started writing and composing in 2012, and by 2016, the company trusted me enough to include my own songs in the album. I debuted solo in my ninth year after the timing was right and I had enough preparation and experience.”
She added, “I waited a long time. Interestingly, many of my friends born in ’89 looked up to the divas of the 2000s as role models. I joined an agency dreaming of becoming a solo diva like Uhm Jung Hwa, Lee Hyori, Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera.”
Tiffany shared, “Girls’ Generation was created from the energy of wanting to go solo. Although we were always together, we continued to support each other’s musical pursuits and stories, which eventually led to us having both separate and joint activities. I waited and finally debuted solo in my ninth year.”
Recently, Girls’ Generation members Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Sooyoung formed “Hyori-su” to take on TaeTiSeo. Host Yoon Sang remarked, “When the three members most confident in vocals gathered for TaeTiSeo, it seemed like the other members were sharpening their knives. Now, Hyori-su is becoming a hot topic.” Tiffany gave a thumbs up, saying, “You never know what will happen. My members are amazing for creating something as cool as becoming the center and lead vocal after 19 years. Hyoyeon is so cool.”
Tiffany noted, “TaeTiSeo was formed in 2012. Now, 14 years later, Hyori-su has declared they will challenge our vocals.” Yoon Sang mentioned, “I saw a short clip of that, and the expression Tiffany had while looking at Hyoyeon was quite mysterious.” To this, Tiffany replied, “It was a complex emotion. I was seriously cheering for her, but I also had my doubts. We can be quite cold,” adding, “Looking back at it, I found it funny too.”
She further explained, “Having worked closely with Taeyeon’s voice for a long time, I wondered if Hyoyeon could hit high notes up to GA. Hyoyeon has a vocal color that suits minor keys. When she said things like, ‘I’m not minor, I want to play in the major,’ I couldn’t control my facial expression.”
Meanwhile, Tiffany Young completed her marriage registration with actor Byun Yo-han this February. On the 8th, she released “Summer’s Not Over,” a pre-release track for her 10th solo debut anniversary album.
“Summer’s Not Over” is a single released ahead of her full-length album to celebrate 10 years since her solo debut, depicting the feeling of being as comfortable as home when spending moments with loved ones.
