Comedian Lee Su-ji is facing a heartbreaking loss following the passing of her father-in-law.
On the 25th, her agency, CP Entertainment, stated, “Lee Su-ji’s father-in-law passed away this morning due to a chronic illness.” He reportedly passed away around 6 AM today.
The altar is set up at the Gurye Forestry Cooperative Funeral Hall in Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do, and the funeral procession will be held on the 27th. Lee Su-ji is currently said to be with her family at the funeral hall.
The agency added, “We ask for your warm comfort and condolences for Lee Su-ji and her family,” and expressed their deepest condolences.

This news is especially heartbreaking as Lee Su-ji had mentioned her father-in-law’s health just 17 days ago. During the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards on the 8th, after winning the Best Female Entertainer award in the TV category, she touched everyone by saying, “Today is Parents’ Day, and my father-in-law is very ill. I hope he can see the broadcast and smile.”
At the time, she shared a heartfelt acceptance speech expressing her love and gratitude for her family, which led to a wave of support. However, with the sad news coming about 15 days after the ceremony, fans and colleagues are now sending their condolences.
Born in 1985, Lee Su-ji debuted as an SBS comedian in 2008 and later gained immense popularity through ‘Gag Concert’ as part of the 27th KBS recruitment. She is currently active in various variety shows, including Coupang Play’s ‘SNL Korea,’ and her own YouTube channel ‘Hot Issue Ji.’
Lee Su-ji married a non-celebrity man three years her junior in 2018 and has a son.
