The members of ‘Gugidong Friends’ came together to celebrate Choi Daniel’s birthday!
In the May 8th episode of tvN’s ‘Gugidong Friends’, Choi Daniel was moved to tears by the members’ heartfelt celebrations for his 40th birthday.
While enjoying a meal on the terrace, Kyung Soo-jin shared, “I’ve grown very fond of this house. I have a lot of affection in my heart.” To this, Choi Daniel added, “We should get along as much as possible so we have no regrets, even if we can’t see each other again.” Jang Do-yeon then joked, “We’re a time-limited family,” bringing laughter to the group.
During filming, Choi Daniel received a “Happy 40th Birthday” message from his father. He opened up, saying, “I’ve spent my birthdays alone for a while. I think I was filming last year,” and admitted, “It’s been a long time since I’ve actually celebrated my birthday.”
When asked about his loneliest birthday, Choi Daniel recalled a memory from about 30 years ago. “It was when I was in the early grades of elementary school. We lived in a house with a separate toilet and coal heating, and my dad bought me a mocha cream cake and block toys. I remember being with my father and brother after losing my mother at a young age.”
The mood shifted to excitement when Lee Da-hee revealed she had prepared a surprise gift. Choi Daniel reacted with fluttery curiosity, asking, “Did you like me? Are you appearing on a pottery blind date?” Ahn Jae-hyun added to the mystery, revealing, “Lee Da-hee contacted me in the evening to ask for advice.”
Remembering Choi Daniel mentioning he “didn’t have shoes” while buying his first custom suit, Lee Da-hee prepared a special gift. Though she admitted, “This is my first time dealing with men’s shoes,” she brought custom shoe samples and even knelt down to measure his foot size.
Choi Daniel felt overwhelmed, wondering if he deserved such a gift, but Lee Da-hee warmly replied, “I love taking care of my people, and seeing the other person happy makes me truly happy too.”
Deeply touched by the surprise party, Choi Daniel shared, “It’s been so long since I’ve celebrated my birthday. Spending it with the members feels like fate and destiny. I haven’t felt this way in a long time. Thank you, I’m so touched.”
