Jang Seung-jo of ‘Brave New World’ has teased the birth of a new villain character that will surpass his previous role in ‘You Killed It’.
A production press conference for the new Friday-Saturday drama ‘Brave New World’ (directed by Han Tae-seop, written by Kang Hyun-joo) was held on the afternoon of the 7th at the SBS building in Mok-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. Hosted by MC Park Kyung-rim, the event was attended by director Han Tae-seop and actors Lim Ji-yeon, Heo Nam-jun, Jang Seung-jo, Kim Min-seok, and Lee Se-hee, who shared stories about the project.
‘Brave New World’ is a romance-comedy drama featuring a war-like tension between Shin Seo-ri, an unknown actress who becomes “wicked” after being possessed by the soul of a notorious villainess from the Joseon era, and Cha Se-gye, a wicked chaebol known as a monster created by capitalism. It is set to premiere on the 8th.
During the event, Jang Seung-jo introduced his character, saying, “Choi Moon-do is the president of Chail Construction and Cha Se-gye’s second cousin. He is an ambitious man who desires to take over Chail Group.”
Jang Seung-jo previously sent chills down viewers’ spines with a terrifying villain role in ‘You Killed It’. As expectations rise for his next villainous turn, he confidently answered “Yes” when asked if he could surpass his previous performance. Regarding the key points of his new villain, he added, “I was curious about what side of myself I could show while reading the script, which made me really want to take on this role.”
He continued, “Since the character is different, I believe he will be perceived differently. I see him as a character with a sense of restraint. I portrayed him as someone who cannot even laugh out loud. Shall we call it the birth of another kind of evil? I’ve prepared hard for this.”
Meanwhile, SBS’s ‘Brave New World’ premieres on the 8th at 9 PM.
