Japanese Fusion Jazz Group Katsushika Trio to Hold First Concert in Korea Next Month!

Japanese fusion jazz group Katsushika Trio is coming to Korea for the first time! Organizer U&I Communications announced on the 27th that the group will perform at the Seongnam Arts Center Opera House on the 14th of next month at 6 PM.

Formed in 2021, Katsushika Trio consists of Tetsuo Sakurai (bass), Akira Jimbo (drums), and Minoru Mukaiya (keyboard), all of whom were members of the first generation of the legendary band Casiopea, the group that led the golden age of Japanese fusion jazz.

Currently leading the Japanese fusion jazz scene, the trio consistently records near-sellout numbers for their tour concerts across major Japanese cities. They are known for their diverse musical style that blends jazz with rock, funk, and electronic elements. Last year, they showcased an even more evolved sound in their third album, “Organic.”

The organizers introduced the group, stating, “Katsushika Trio has been praised by jazz fans globally as the revival of classic fusion, thanks to the members’ outstanding technical skills, their long-standing ensemble chemistry, intense improvisation, and dynamic live performances.”

For their first visit to Korea, the three members will also perform songs from their Casiopea era for the local fans.
