Singer Jeon Somi showed her amazing filial piety by revealing that she actually helped her parents open their own shop!

On the May 18 episode of the channel ‘Zzanhan Hyung Shin Dong-yup’, Jeon Somi appeared alongside fellow I.O.I members Choi Yoo-jung, Kim Chung-ha, and Yoo Yeon-jung, showcasing their honest and witty chemistry.
During the show, Jeon Somi brought along the signature menu item from her parents’ shop: smoked salmon. She confidently recommended the “maple syrup glazed smoked salmon” to MC Shin Dong-yup and Jung Ho-chul, leaving them thoroughly impressed.

When Shin Dong-yup asked how the shop came to be, Jeon Somi explained, “One day, my dad started curing salmon on his own. He shared it with people around him, and they kept asking him to make more, even saying they’d pay for it.” She added, “The reaction was so great that it naturally led to opening a shop.” Shin Dong-yup was touched, calling her a “truly filial daughter” and jokingly suggested she could pass the business to her younger sibling later.

Jeon Somi’s father is Canadian actor Matthew Douma, a familiar face to Korean viewers through dramas like ‘Kill Me, Heal Me’ and ‘Descendants of the Sun’.

Jeon Somi also raised fans’ expectations during her appearance on MBC’s ‘Radio Star’ last month, where she shared updates on I.O.I’s 10th-anniversary reunion project. She bragged about their enduring friendship and strong teamwork, noting that their group chat is still very active. She also revealed that the album jacket shoot and recordings are already complete, meaning the comeback preparations are moving along smoothly.
While mentioning that she is practicing for 4 to 6 hours a day, she jokingly admitted, “I can definitely feel that my stamina is different from 10 years ago,” which sparked laughter among the members.
