Jeonju International Film Festival Crowns ‘The Fading Night’ with Grand Prize!

The 27th Jeonju International Film Festival Organizing Committee has officially announced that the Grand Prize in the International Competition section goes to ‘The Fading Night,’ co-directed by Ezequiel Salinas and Ramiro Soncini!

The festival’s organizing committee hosted a dazzling awards ceremony today at Jeonbuk National University’s Samsung Culture Hall, unveiling the winners across 19 exciting categories, including the prestigious International Competition!

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Cordoba, Argentina, ‘The Fading Night’ tells the heartwarming story of individuals who forge a community within a beloved cinema facing the threat of closure.

Meanwhile, the Grand Prize in the Korean Competition section was snatched up by director Lee Sun-yeon’s captivating film, ‘The Summer We Let Go’!

The International Competition Grand Prize winner took home a cool 20 million won and a trophy, while the Korean Competition Grand Prize winner was honored with 15 million won and a trophy!

The Special Jury Prize was jointly awarded to Vytautas Katkus’s ‘The Visitor’ (International Competition) and Kim Myun-woo’s ‘Resurrection’ (Korean Competition), with both directors receiving 10 million won and a trophy each!

The coveted Actor Award was presented to Ki Jin-woo for his role in ‘Sleepless Night’ and Yeo Dae-hyun for his performance in ‘To Spend the Same Season’!

Director Go Seung-hyun’s ‘To Spend the Same Season’ truly shone, also bagging the CGV Award and becoming a fantastic double-crown winner!

In special categories, Moon Jung-hyun’s ‘Untact Time’ earned the Fujifilm Korea Award (chosen from Korean Cinema feature film directors), while Kim Myun-woo’s ‘Resurrection’ also secured the Documentary Award (selected from Korean feature documentaries).

Both of these impressive films were honored with 10 million won and a trophy each!

The Jeonju International Film Festival is set to wrap up on the 8th, concluding its incredible run with the highly anticipated closing film, ‘Namtaeryeong’.
