Actor Ji Chang Wook is making headlines for the extreme physical training he underwent for his co-star Kim Shin Rok in the movie ‘Gunche’.

On the 12th, a video titled “If anyone asks about the chemistry, look up at Team Gunche” was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Showbox’. The video featured the main cast of Director Yeon Sang Ho’s new film ‘Gunche’—Jun Ji Hyun, Koo Kyo Hwan, Ji Chang Wook, Shin Hyun Bin, and Kim Shin Rok—showing off their amazing teamwork. Ji Chang Wook specifically caught everyone’s attention when he mentioned that he focused heavily on his “physical strength” for this role.

Showing his passion and responsibility, he shared, “In this project, I carry Kim Shin Rok nuna on my back for almost the entire movie, so I was determined to build enough strength to carry her easily and worked out really hard.” This revelation has fans even more excited to see the relationship between the two characters and the high-difficulty action scenes he’ll be performing.

The cast also shared some fun behind-the-scenes stories. Kim Shin Rok mentioned, “Director Yeon Sang Ho’s sets are always so fun and full of episodes,” and named Jun Ji Hyun as the ultimate mood maker of the group. She added, “Many people might think of Koo Kyo Hwan, but Jun Ji Hyun is actually the one with the real ‘high tension’ on set,” teasing a playful side to Jun Ji Hyun that kept the crew laughing. It’s reported that Jun Ji Hyun’s energetic presence on set was a huge hit among her co-stars, providing a surprising contrast to her usual elegant and mysterious image.
With a stellar lineup including Jun Ji Hyun, Koo Kyo Hwan, and Ji Chang Wook, ‘Gunche’ tells the story of survivors fighting for their lives against unpredictably evolving infected individuals inside a building sealed off by a mysterious outbreak. Set to hit theaters on the 21st, the movie is expected to heat up the summer with its suffocating tension and the explosive acting synergy of its lead stars.
