The 755th episode of KBS2’s “Immortal Songs,” airing this Saturday, May 9, will feature the second part of the “Lyricist and Composer Joo Young-hoon Special.” “Immortal Songs” is a beloved music variety show that has consistently gained popularity, surpassing 700 episodes.
Joo Young-hoon is one of Korea’s representative composers, having created numerous hits with top artists of the time, including Kim Jong-kook, Uhm Jung-hwa, Koyote, and Turbo. In the first part, Soran, Choi Jin-hyuk, Billlie, Kim Ki-tae, and Sandeul took the stage to reinterpret his masterpieces in their own styles, creating quite a buzz.
For part two, five teams will battle it out on stage: Son Seung-yeon X Cho Hyung-kyun, Aiki X Rihey X Hyojin Choi, Chae Yeon, NEXZ, and D82.
Son Seung-yeon and Cho Hyung-kyun chose “Our Love As It Is” by Joo Young-hoon and Lee Hye-jin, while Aiki, Rihey, and Hyojin Choi will perform Uhm Jung-hwa’s “Rose of Betrayal” and “Poison.” Chae Yeon will perform Rumors’ “Storm,” NEXZ will take on Turbo’s “My Childhood Dream,” and D82 will perform Jang Hye-jin’s “Conversation of Dreams.”
With a lineup of legendary dance hits from the 1990s and 2000s, a flashy performance battle is expected. Word has it that the atmosphere was so electric that the judging panel and the cast in the waiting room couldn’t help but get up and dance along.
Most intriguingly, it is reported that the final victory was decided by a mere one-vote difference, adding to the suspense. Everyone is eager to see who will walk away with the final trophy.
Additionally, the “master of talk” Joo Young-hoon will share various behind-the-scenes stories. He tells a unique debut anecdote, saying, “I debuted as a composer thanks to the mole next to my lips,” and shares the story of how Turbo’s “My Childhood Dream” failed the broadcasting station’s censorship. He also brought laughter to the set by revealing an episode related to the wedding of Jang Dong-gun and Go So-young.
Combining spectacular performances and delightful talk, the second part of the “Lyricist and Composer Joo Young-hoon Special” on KBS2’s “Immortal Songs” will air this Saturday, May 9, at 6:05 PM.
