In the upcoming episode of KBS2’s variety show Boss in the Mirror airing on the 17th, Jun Hyun-moo will share his thoughts on joining the KBS broadcasting team for the North and Central America World Cup.
Jun Hyun-moo previously made a splash during the 2024 Paris Olympics with his first-ever weightlifting commentary. Despite it being a less popular sport, he led the way to the highest viewership ratings among the three major terrestrial broadcasters.
Now tackling the North and Central America World Cup, Jun Hyun-moo shared, “I am stepping into World Cup football commentary for the first time in my life so that I can enjoy the sport with many citizens.” He reportedly accepted the caster offer to support his KBS announcer junior, Nam Hyun-jong, and has been visiting K-League matches to learn the basics from commentator Lee Young-pyo.
He also expressed his ambition to “add a spoonful of variety” to the football commentary. Jun Hyun-moo teased, “Lee Young-pyo and I were both born in 1977, the Year of the Snake. Please look forward to the special chemistry between the Snake-borns!” Meanwhile, Park Myung-soo caused a laugh by telling him, “Hyun-moo, don’t worry about this place,” while eyeing the vacant MC spot on Boss in the Mirror.
KBS is the only terrestrial channel that will broadcast the 2026 North and Central America World Cup, which takes place from June 11 to July 19. A luxurious broadcasting team including Jun Hyun-moo, Lee Young-pyo, Nam Hyun-jong, Park Joo-young, Kim Shin-wook, Cho Won-hee, Park Chan-ha, and Jung Woo-won will deliver the local excitement to viewers.
You can check out Jun Hyun-moo’s determination for his first World Cup casting challenge and the start of the team with Lee Young-pyo and Nam Hyun-jong on today’s episode of Boss in the Mirror at 4:40 PM.
