Kim Do-yeon will be attending the festival alongside Director Jung Ju-ri and actress Ando Sakura. ‘Dora’ will have its world premiere on the 17th and is scheduled for a domestic release in the second half of the year.

On the 14th, distributor Episode Company shared the thoughts of Director Jung Ju-ri and actors Kim Do-yeon and Ando Sakura, whose film ‘Dora’ has been invited to the Director’s Fortnight section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival. Making her first-ever trip to the Cannes red carpet, Kim Do-yeon expressed, “I hope the time we spent [on this project] reaches the audience honestly.”
The film tells the story of a family who leaves Seoul for a summer beach villa. While there, Dora (played by Kim Do-yeon), who suffers from an unknown illness, experiences love for the first time, causing everything to slowly begin to shift.
Director Jung Ju-ri has achieved a remarkable feat with all her feature films being invited to Cannes. Following ‘Do-hee’ (2014) in Un Certain Regard and ‘Next Sohee’ (2022) as the closing film of Critics’ Week, ‘Dora’ has now been selected for Director’s Fortnight.
Director Jung shared, “I’m happy to be able to showcase the film as soon as it was completed. I look forward to meeting audiences from around the world and returning soon to greet our domestic viewers.”

Kim Do-yeon added, “Director Jung Ju-ri allowed me to fully breathe as Dora on set, and Ando Sakura sunbaenim woke me up with a fresh energy in every scene. I’m excited to see how the Cannes audience will react to ‘Dora’. I hope the time we spent reaches them honestly.”
Ando Sakura, who plays the other lead character Nami, returns to Cannes after ‘Shoplifters’ (2018) and ‘Monster’ (2023). Making her first appearance in a Korean film, she opened up, “Last summer, even in a situation where we couldn’t speak the same language, I found myself looking more deeply at my surroundings in an effort to share my heart.”
She emphasized, “While films are delivered beyond language and culture, I realized that the space in front of the camera is also a place where hearts can be shared without words. I am sincerely looking forward to meeting everyone at my first Director’s Fortnight screening.”
The 79th Cannes Film Festival will be held in Cannes, Southern France, until the 23rd. ‘Dora’ will make its first appearance through the Director’s Fortnight world premiere on the 17th, with a domestic release planned for the second half of the year.
