Actress Kim Hyang-gi has revealed the reason behind her bold new hairstyle transformation!
During an interview for Coupang Play’s ‘Absolute Value of Romance’ held at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 11th, Kim Hyang-gi recalled, “While filming this drama, I also thought a lot about my own school days.”
‘Absolute Value of Romance’ is a teen comedy series about a high school girl who writes romance novels featuring flower-boy teachers and finds herself at the center of a chaotic school life as she encounters them in reality. In the series, Kim Hyang-gi plays the role of Yeo Ui-ju, who lives a double life as an ordinary student by day and a BL novel writer by night.
Born in 2000, Kim Hyang-gi boldly tried out choppy bangs to pull off the role of a teenage student. She shared, “My hair wasn’t very long after finishing my previous project, so I didn’t have many options to begin with.” She added, “I thought about using hair extensions, but it didn’t seem to fit the image of Ui-ju I had imagined.”
She explained, “The Ui-ju I interpreted is a free-spirited friend who is very honest with her emotions. I felt that a messy, jagged style would bring out the character better than a calm and neat look.” She further added, “Since the work itself is a comedy, I wanted to enhance the genre’s atmosphere through her appearance as well.”
Meanwhile, ‘Absolute Value of Romance’ consists of 16 episodes in total, with two episodes released every Friday at 8 PM on Coupang Play.
