“First, take off your pants…”
Singer and actor Kim Jaejoong opened up about his “funny yet sad” experience of freezing his sperm for his future children.
In the May 15 episode of the KBS2 variety show ‘Stars’ Top Recipe at Fun-staurant’, Kim Jaejoong invited his close fellow actors Choi Jinhyuk, Yoon Shi-yoon, and Yoo Sun-ho to his home for a heart-to-heart talk.
As 40-something single men, Kim Jaejoong, Yoon Shi-yoon, and Choi Jinhyuk naturally began discussing marriage and plans for children. During the conversation, Kim Jaejoong dropped a bombshell, revealing, “I have a strong desire to marry, so I’ve actually frozen my sperm before.” He added his belief that men should preserve their genes while young to ensure the birth of a healthy child.
As the mood heated up, Kim Jaejoong described the vivid process of sperm freezing, leaving everyone in shock. He shared, “When I went to the hospital for the test, the doctor told me during the first consultation, ‘First, please take off your pants.'” He explained that it was a basic examination to check for any external abnormalities, leaving Choi Jinhyuk speechless and shocked.
The embarrassing stories didn’t end there. He laughed as he revealed, “The real problem happens when you enter the room. It’s awkward if you come out of the sperm collection room too quickly or too slowly. There’s a ‘golden time’.”
He recalled the nerve-wracking moment in the waiting room, saying, “They call your name so loudly from the outside, like ‘Mr. Kim Jaejoong!’ I went there secretly wearing a mask, but I felt like everyone was staring.” He even admitted to disguising his voice to hide his identity, which sparked laughter from viewers.
After hearing the candid review, Choi Jinhyuk admitted, “Actually, I’ve thought about freezing my sperm too, but I’m losing my courage because of that process.”
To this, Kim Jaejoong noted, “But that was just one test. You have to do it again for the second test. You have to endure the embarrassment twice,” yet he still stepped up as a “sperm freezing evangelist,” recommending the procedure.
However, there was a plot twist at the end. Kim Jaejoong revealed, “Stored sperm is discarded after about 3 to 5 years. The period was shorter than I thought. Mine has already been discarded.” He added that he has no plans to freeze his sperm again for the time being.
